Happy Secretarys Day!!
On this special day, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Lindsay Faircloth and Mrs. Erin Wacter, our amazing Dewar Elementary School secretaries. These wonderful ladies keep our school running smoothly behind the scenes. Their warm smiles, helpful assistance, and organizational skills are the backbone of our school community. From greeting visitors and answering phones to managing schedules and supporting teachers and students, they handle countless tasks with grace and efficiency. Their dedication and hard work make our school a welcoming and well-functioning place for everyone. Thank you for your tireless efforts, kindness, and commitment to our school. We are truly grateful for all that you do!

To celebrate our amazing secretaries at Dewar, fifth grade showed their appreciation by providing them with a breakfast cart to start their day!! Thank you for all you do for us every day!

Two fifth grade students from Dewar Elementary were honored at the LEIF Awards Ceremony. CJ Swinson received the One Lowndes Lowndes Award for exhibiting good citizenship and showing kindness to everyone. Noelle Thompson received the award for Most Improved Student at Dewar. Our fourth grade recruits trained hard as they accomplished all of their tasks in ELA Boot Camp today! A big congratulations to the students in Mrs. Loring's, Mrs. Crews’, and Mrs. White's classes for their hard work as they reviewed for their GMAS testing. We are extremely proud of their efforts throughout the entire year! Well done, 4th grade! We’ve got grit and we don’t quit!

Mrs. Webster's class celebrated Earth Day 2024 by going on a nature scavenger hunt. The students searched for grass, flowers, branches, birds, and more. Then, they learned different ways to take care of the Earth and made an Earth Day Promise.

Congratulations to our grade level April PRIDE Students of the Month! Each student received a free KONA Ice and a certificate. We are so proud of you!

GMAS Information!

Over the last two weeks, Mrs. Lopez and Mrs. Figarola’s ELA classes delved into a novel, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. Through the exploration of characters, setting, plot, and themes we connected with Sadako's story of hope and resilience after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
To deepen our understanding, we made origami cranes together. Each crane symbolized our solidarity with Sadako and her message of perseverance in the face of adversity. Sadako's story reminded us that even in difficult times, hope and compassion can bring us together and make a positive difference in the world.

5th grade's "Blue Ribbon Bluau" was a huge success! Students enjoyed cotton candy, soccer, volleyball, hula hooping, karaoke, and more to celebrate all their hard work this year! Thank you to our parent volunteers and 5th grade teachers for setting the "Bluau" up for these well-deserved kids!

Spotted serving the community!
Several students and teachers were spotted serving the community of Valdosta in the 3rd annual Hunger Fight on Friday. They were just a few of the 420 volunteers putting together meals for Title One Elementary School children in Valdosta/ Lowndes County! Thank you so much for seeing a need and joining in on the fight to meet the need!

5th grade Study Island Blue Ribbon finishers celebrated their challenging accomplishment of earning at least 77 blue ribbons by enjoying a special lunch, served by their teachers and parent volunteers. A big shout out and thank you to our CPIE partner, Dillon Hanson, for sponsoring the main course of the lunch, Zaxby's chicken strips for the lunch and for our parent volunteers!
