Texas Roadhouse Trunk or Treat! This Thursday, October 24 from 5pm -7pm. Don't forget your costume!

Mrs. King's class wrapped up their Johnny Appleseed unit by making apple pie in a cup! We started by crushing graham crackers for the base, then added apple filling, whipped cream, and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Before tasting, we made predictions about the flavor. After enjoying our tasty treats, we wrote down the steps we took using sequencing words. It was a fun way to celebrate our learning!

4th graders worked in teams to design and build their own Road to the American Revolution-themed board games. After carefully crafting the board games, the students had the opportunity to play each others games, bringing the key events of the Revolutionary War to life in an interactive way!

Students from Mrs. Crews, Mrs. White, and Mrs. Scott’s class enjoyed participating in STEM projects this week. They tested their bottle flipping abilities by filling four different water bottles with different amounts of candy corn to see how times they could successfully flip their bottles. Finally they became spiders and engineered webs using yarn, cotton, craft sticks and their surroundings to catch plastic insects.

Mrs. Taylor's class wrapped up their Johnny Appleseed unit this week with some "Fun Friday" activities! Students tasted red, yellow, and green apples and chose their favorite. Next, they iced an apple shaped cookie, based on the color they liked best and made a graph to see which color was liked by the most students. The yellow apples won! Last, the class followed a recipe to make crock-pot apple dump cake. Learning is sweet at DES!

Mrs Niewoonder's 1st graders enjoyed their first day back at school after the storm. They talked about a variety of community helpers and made cards to show their appreciation.
